COLLISION REPAIR TECHNOLOGY
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This program is designed to provide entry-level training for persons interested in learning to repair damaged vehicles. Emphasis is placed on the latest techniques in repairing damaged vehicles. Down draft paint booth and a Chief Frame Machine are used for hands-on practical experience. Students will master the technique of frame repair, welding, painting, dent removal and detailing.

REQUIRED:
Leather boots ($35 - $60); Safetyglasses.
AVERAGEEARNINGS:
Starting $7.50/hour beginning; $28,000- $40,000 with five years experience.
ACADEMIC/EMPLOYABILITYSKILLS:
Physical Skills: Be able to lift approximately 50 pounds and bend at the knees and wrist without difficulty. The job requires one to stand, lift, climb, carry and bend, and have the ability to discriminate colors. Must have good eye-hand coordination and an interest and aptitude in working with hand tools.
Math Skills: Perform practical applications involving fractions and decimals, percentages, metric system measurement, ratio, and proportion. Compute discount, profit and loss, commission, markups, etc. Calculate surface area, volume, weights, and measures. Understand properties ofangles and proper use of all measuring devices used in the career area.
Language/English Skills: Read a variety of magazines, newspapers, and trade-related technical manuals. Read safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment, and proper job procedures. Extensive computer related skills required.
Science Skills: Demonstrate technical competencies and logical thinking skills in the interpretation of processes and principles. Utilize measurements in the operation of specific technical equipment plus possess the ability to observe, classify, measure, infer, manipulate variables and interpret charts, graphs, and tables. Recommend physical science, Principles of Technology and/or physics.
Computer Skills: Be able to use the computer to perform basic data processing, spread sheet, internet for research and operate trade related software at the application level.
RELATEDPOST-SECONDARY OPPORTUNITIES:
Two-year and four-year technical degree available in collision repair.
