CONSTRUCTION TRADES
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This program prepares individuals to apply knowledge and skills in the Construction Technology field. Instruction is provided on the basic skills in a variety of areas associated with building construction, such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, heating and electrical. Instructions include but not limited to blue print reading; cost estimating; use of hand and power tools; cutting, fitting, fastening and finishing various materials; and applying technical specifications and knowledge concerning the physical properties of materials.

REQUIRED:
Leather work boots, work clothing.
AVERAGE EARNINGS:
Starting at $15/hour, up to $30/ and beyond
ACADEMIC/EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS:
Physical Skills: Be able to lift approximately 50 pounds and bend at the knees and waist without difficulty. You must have a good sense of balance and no fear of heights. Posses good vision, speech, and fine motor skills, and have the ability to make precise measurements.
Math Skills:Convert and perform practical applications involving fractions and decimals, percentages, measurements, ratios, and proportions. Applied math, algebra 1, geometry recommended.
English Skills: Read a variety of magazines, newspapers, trade-related manuals, and safety rules. Basic computer skills are required for information retrieval, construction, drawing, and estimating.
Computer Skills: Be able to use the computer to perform basic data processing, spread sheets, internet for research and operate trade related software at the application level.
